I have worked in and with small business for over 14 years. From retail to construction these are some of the most valuable lessons I have learnt!

1️⃣ Manage your money well!

There are many moving parts to running your small business. Managing your money is essential, if you don’t have accounting knowledge. Take the time to learn to grow your skills, otherwise you can outsource it. (ps Xero accounting software is a game changer)

2️⃣ Build a support network

Having a community and a strong network is really important. It can be friends, family or a digital community. They can encourage and support you in tough times. Together they can help support and grow your business.

3️⃣ Write down your goals

Office Pro suggests to write down your goals! Even better, have photographs or pictures to help visional your goals. Revisit your goals regularly to ensure you meet them!

4️⃣ Embrace change and technology

2021 is a digital world! Don’t be left behind from your competitors. Adapt and welcome new apps and software to increase your businesses efficiency.

5️⃣ Review your operating costs

Office Pro often see busy business owners, not spending enough time reviewing their operating costs. Each year you should look at your insurance policies, phone/ internet providers and subscriptions to see if you can save or improve them.

6️⃣ Market research

Office Pro suggests to watch and analysis your competitors and industry. It’s a great way to get new ideas, make sure you don’t copy but use it for inspiration.
